The ascent to the craters is not a short one, especially for those unused to hiking in the mountains. There is a gradient of 900 metres, often with steep steps and covered in some places with sand and ash, where the climb can be quite tiring As this is a substantial challenge you should be in the best physical condition and have the right equipment.

AFTERNOON EXCURSION
Starts at approximately 6 pm, depending on the season.

ASCENT ALONG THE NORTH-WESTERN SLOPE.
From Piazza della Chiesa di San Vincenzo, we walk along a mule-track to a height of 273 metres.
We follow the path alongside the Sciara del Fuoco. The panorama you will enjoy on the climb along the Sciara del fuoco (Street of Fire), the village which gradually reveals itself below, and the volcanic eruptions which intensify towards sunset, will be one of the most exciting and unforgettable experiences of your life. (enjoy the video ADSL - 56K )
We stop for about an hour at the ‘Pizzo’ summit, at 918 metres, where there is a natural terrace with a panoramic view 200 metres above the edge of the volcano.

DESCENT ALONG THE SOUTH-EASTERN SLOPE
We follow the path that stretches between the summit of the craters and the vegetation, arriving at a typical Stromboli cane thicket.
In two hours or so we arrive back at San Vincenzo.

We also provide organised excursions from Ginostra to Stromboli along a little-known rural path.
The quickest way of reaching the island of Stromboli from the other islands is by the motorboat Aliante; it is punctual and safe, and an enjoyable way of travelling across the water, and gives you an opportunity to climb the volcano with Antonio Famularo
